Insightful Investing Update November 2008
The financial crisis hit the fan in October, leaving the stock market with its worst month in 21 years. While the market was kind enough to get most of the damage over with in two days back in October of 1987, this time around stocks were kind enough to stretch the agony out over two weeks. Having lived through both I’m not sure which was worse, but I am thinking it may take longer to recover this time around. For the record, Large Cap Stocks were down 17% for the month, with Small Cap Stocks and International stocks dropping over 20%. There was really no place to hide, though government bonds proved to be a bit of a safe haven. We are in no hurry to move more money into stocks, but recognize that some time soon will be a golden opportunity to take advantage to the stock market’s 50% off sale.
